GRAYification Completed

BEHOLD- My NEW (old) WALLS.

This was the last thing we did pre-plague. I was really set on painting this all by myself, but let's be real. It's our entire home. As much as I hate paying someone else to do something I could do myself, me with a roller standing 15 feet in the air with a roller is not a great idea. So we called the same trusty painter who painted our home when we needed a nursery painted and my husband didn't want to do it. (Shout out to GS VanHeckle Painting http://gsvanheklepainting.com/)! This 2 person husband/wife team painted our entire 2 story family room, 2 story foyer, 2 stairwells and the upstairs and downstairs hallway in 2 days. Just the walls, not the trim but this would've taken me weeks to finish. SO YAS, good decision.

...But at first, I hated it. Not hated, but I don't like change. The walls were so different from what I was used to, the color felt "toothpastey" to me for a few days. I was REALLY regretting not going with the Edgecomb creamy gray. After a few days though, I realized how awesome it looked so YAY.

So to recap, here are some before and afters:

Any regrets now? About the color? - None. About hiring someone to do the job? - None. I do regret not having them paint the ceilings. I thought it would be fine but now they look old and all the outdated stuff in our home was starting to look... obvious. Specifically the stair rails... (hint hint, coming soon...DUN DUN DUNNNNN).

So lessons learned:

✓ Live with a paint color for a little bit before you make a final decision on it
✓ DON'T IGNORE THE CEILINGS IF YOU HAVEN'T PAINTED FOR A WHILE.
✓ Beware - refreshing your walls may make you feel like you need to gut the rest of your home.

Happy painting y'all!

Going gray. Or grey.

I really am though. Three little people and rapidly approaching my early 20s (cough, cough) will totally do that to you. But gray is in now, right? Or is it out? Is it gray? Or grey? Hmm... either way, I was done with the country camel beige.
Our home has a fairly open floor plan, with a 2 story foyer, 2 story family room and open upstairs hallway, and they're all painted a lovely Beige/Tan color - Sherwin Williams Latte. I don't hate it, it's warm and pretty neutral, so we lived with it for 5 years. And then I finally got bit by the gray bug so repainting it is!

And we're back!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! (Yes, January is almost over. But after last year, I'm going to be wishing everyone a a happy new year until Q3.)

It's been a while. Like a longgggggggg while. After years of not posting (9, to be exact...EEK!), I'm back!
